While old trains are cool, I am also fascinated by the massive
size and sleek simplicity of modern freight trains. This is a modern tarp covered flat car. Parked next to the 1957
sliding door/roof boxcar it shows how huge modern freight cars are in
comparison. I built this from scratch using wood, plastic, tissue, and
brass. The trucks, couplings, buffers, and brakes are from Hübner.
The signs are printed with an ink jet printer on glossy photo paper.
This huge car illustrates why Gauge I often focuses on the 1950s. These long
cars have a hard time with the tight curves on many layouts.
